Lepolt Update: The “You Finally got a job?!” Edition
By Jonathan | June 1, 2008 at 9:45 pm
I bring to you, my loyal readers, a quick update of what it is exactly that I’m up to these days. For the sake of simplicity I’ll provide some bullet points; for further information please continue reading.
- Starting full-time at Seapine Software on Monday, June 2
- House hunting in/around Mason, OH
- Still [happily] married
- Haven’t dropped out of school [yet]
Full-time job
For anyone keeping the box score, I’ve been working at Seapine for the past two years part time as I’ve been working on my thesis at UC. I also co-oped there for four quarters from 2003-2004. I begin as a full-time employee at Seapine on Monday. School is/was taking too long (19+ years), so for now the thesis is going to take a back seat…although it won’t be forgotten about. All of my coursework at UC has been completed, and all required classroom and thesis hours (30 classroom, 15 thesis) have been accounted for. All that remains is:
1) Finishing up a prototype
2) Writing a reeaallyy long paper after doing some intense research work (aka, “writing” the thesis)
3) Defending said thesis
4) Graduating
There is no real timeline for the aforementioned items, although the sooner the better. The plan is to work on school stuff a few days a week in the evenings or on weekends until things finish up. Yippee.
House hunting
Abi and I are 100% ready to move out of this apartment. Again, for those keeping score we’ve been here for two years and are ready for a change. Our house hunt has been focused in Mason, [East] West Chester, and Deerfield Township (which is really part of next to Mason, but whatever). These areas will be much, much closer to work for me and Abi once the new Children’s Hospital branch opens up in Liberty Township. House details will be provided at our discretion (ie, don’t be surprised if the first time you hear about our new house is for the party…
)
Still married
Another box score detail to keep track of is the two-year wedding anniversary that will take place on August 5. No, I’m not getting ahead of things here…”till death do us part” was said, and I’m not dead (neither is Abi).
School
See above for details. I hate school, but I’ve wasted too much time/blood/sweat/tears/anger/money to quit now.
I hope this update will suffice in answering all pertinent questions that you may have right now. I may/may not try to give you a life update more often…we’ll see how things are going. For now, GO REDS!

Actually, Deerfield Township isn’t part of Mason. If it were, it’d be Mason.
